Jamila Daniel
Jamila Daniel is the Chief Diversity Officer and Executive Vice President of Human Resources for STARZ.
As Chief Diversity Officer, based in the company’s Santa Monica office, Daniel is responsible for partnering with STARZ’s leadership team to effect organizational changes in policy and culture that has led to a more diverse and inclusive workplace. She leads the Diversity Leadership team that orchestrates company-wide strategies to realize structural and sustainable change.
Daniel has been instrumental in the establishment of various company initiatives including the creation of Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to foster community and engagement, a Supplier Diversity Program to increase STARZ’s spend with diverse suppliers and developmental leadership programs for employees at every stage of their career.
As Executive Vice President of Human Resources for STARZ, Daniel works with business unit management to strategically plan and process the development of HR strategies that attracts talent at every level and background and supports the company’s goals for its employees which aligns with its commitment to women and underrepresented audiences.
Prior to joining STARZ in 2019, Daniel served as Vice President of Human Resources at Crown Media Family Networks (Hallmark Channels) where she developed strategic human capital solutions and provided leadership and direction across all HR functions including HR operations, employee relations, performance management, compensation and organizational development. Daniel also provided full-spectrum HR support for the subsidiary production Home & Family and partnered with internal stakeholders to facilitate an organizational transformation into a culture of continuous feedback. In this role, she was responsible for spearheading talent acquisition which included developing and executing a talent acquisition strategy focused on diversity, managing the full life cycle of recruitment such as candidate sourcing, interviewing, hiring, orientation and on-boarding as well as affirmative action compliance and managing sourcing relationships.
Daniel has extensive experience in entertainment and media having also held positions at Turner Broadcasting and AFTRA/SAG-AFTRA. She has been recognized by Cablefax’s “Diversity” List and Business Insider’s “HR Innovators” List and has participated in thought leader discussions such as TheWrap’s TheGrill Conference about the current state of DEI in the entertainment industry.
Daniel holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from California State University at Northridge.
